Dak Lak is one of the better-value regions of Vietnam. Prices outside the big tourist centres are lower, and the best things here, like the coffee, the food and the countryside, cost very little. The figures below are rough guides only and change with the season and the exchange rate.
Where to Stay
- Guesthouses and simple hotels in Buon Ma Thuot are cheap and usually clean.
- Mid-range hotels in the city centre offer good rooms with breakfast at a modest price compared with Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City.
- Homestays at Lak Lake and Buon Don are simple and are included in our homestay tours.
Food and Coffee
A bowl of noodles or a plate of rice at a local restaurant is inexpensive, and a coffee at a street café costs less than in most other countries. Dinner at a nicer restaurant is still affordable. Eating where locals eat is the easiest way to save money and the best way to taste real Dak Lak food.
Getting Around
Taxis and ride-hailing apps in the city are cheap. For trips to the lakes, waterfalls and villages, a car with a driver for the day is the most practical choice, and the cost can be shared by a small group. See our car rental with driver.
Tours
All our tours are private, so the price depends on your group size, travel date and the services you choose. Groups of two or more pay less per person. Send us your dates and we will reply with a clear quotation that shows what is included.
Money Tips
- Carry some cash in Vietnamese dong; small shops, markets and homestays often do not take cards.
- ATMs are easy to find in Buon Ma Thuot but rare in the countryside.
- Tipping is not required, but it is appreciated by guides, drivers and homestay hosts.
