Pal Sol Grassland Trek
Walk through forest to the wide, rolling grassland of Pal Sol and camp under the stars in the mountains of southern Dak Lak.
Pal Sol is a high, open grassland in the mountains of Krong Bong district, in the south of Dak Lak. After a drive from Buon Ma Thuot you walk through forest and along streams until the trees open onto rolling hills of grass with mountains all around, one of the most beautiful and least visited landscapes in the province.
You spend the night camping on the grassland, with sunset, a campfire dinner and, on a clear night, a sky full of stars. The 3 day version adds a second day of walking and a night with a family in a village at the foot of the mountains.

Itinerary

Day 1 Buon Ma Thuot to Pal Sol
Early pick-up and a drive of about 2 hours to Krong Bong district. Meet the local team and walk through forest and along streams, with a picnic lunch on the way. In the afternoon the forest opens onto the grassland. Set up camp, watch the sunset and have dinner around the fire.

Day 2 Sunrise and return
Wake up for sunrise over the mountains, have breakfast at camp and walk back down by a different trail where possible. Lunch at the trailhead and transfer back to Buon Ma Thuot in the late afternoon. On the 3 day version you continue to a village at the foot of the mountains for the night.

Day 3 (optional) Village and return
Morning in the village with your hosts, a short walk in the countryside, and return to Buon Ma Thuot by early afternoon.
